11. अनुभूतविषयासंप्रमोषः स्मृतिः ।Sootra 11 - Sootra 20
ANUBHOOTAVISHAYAASAMPRAMOSHAH SMRUTIHI
ANUBHOOTA = EXPERIENCED; VISHAYA = SUBJECT MATTER; ASAMPRAMOSHAH = UNDESTROYED; SMRUTIHI = MEMORIES
Memory is already experienced, undestroyed subject matter.
12. अभ्यासवैराग्याभ्यां तन्निरोधः
ABHYAASAVAIRAGYABHYAN TANNIRODHAH
ABHYAASA = PRACTICE, STUDY; VAIRAGYA = DETACHMENT, DISPASSION, NON-ATTACHMENT; TAT = THEIR; NIRODHAH = STOPPAGE, CONTROL
From Study or Abhyaasa and Dispassion or Vairaagya comes their stoppage (of Assumed Views).
13. तत्र स्थितौ यत्नोऽभ्यासः ।
TATRA STHITAU YATNA ABHYASAH
TATRA = THERE; STHITAU = LIES;
YATNA = EFFORTS, ENDEAVORS;
Study and Effort exist there.
To acquire a state of mind which is calm and without any mental activities, one has to accomplish by using given means with effort, energy, enthusiasm and aspiration. This is called Practice or Abhyaasa.

14. स तु दीर्घकालनैरन्तर्यसत्कारासेवितो दृढभूमिः ।
SA TU DEERGHAKALANAIRANTARYASATKARAASEVITO DRIDHABHOOMI
SA = THAT; TU =INDEED, ALSO, THEN; DEERGHA KALA = PROLONGED TIME; NAIRANTARYA = WITHOUT INTURRUPTION; CONTINUOUS; SATKARA = DEVOTION, RESPECT; ASEVITO = PURSUED; DRIDHA = SOLID, FIRM; BHOOMI = GROUND
That Study being continuously pursued for a prolonged time, without interruption and with devotion, indeed becomes a firm ground (to achieve stoppage of assumed views).
15. दृष्टानुश्रविकविषयवितृष्णस्य वशीकारसंज्ञा वैराग्यम् ।
DRISHTAANUSHRAVIKAVISHAYAVITRISHNASYA VASHIKAARSAUNDNYA VAIRAGYAMDRISHTA = SEEN, VISUAL; ANUSHRAVIKA = HEARD; VISHAYA = SUBJECT MATTERS, OBJECTS; VITRISHNASYA =OF DISPASSION, OF FREE FROM DESIRE; VASHIKAAR = MASTERED; SAUNDNYA = NAME, DEFINITION; VAIRAGYAM =DISPASSION, NON-ATTACHMENT
Disinterest about seen or heard is named as Mastered Dispassion.
TATPARAM PURUSHAKHYATERGUNAVAITRISHNYAM
TAT = THAT; PARAM = SUPREME, ULTIMATE; KHYATIH = KNOWLEDGE, FAME, REPUTATION; PURUSHA = SELF, CONSCIOUSNESS, SELF; GUNA=NATURE; VAITRUSHNYAM = DISPASSION;
Superior to Mastered Dispassion is the Desirelessness which is there towards the world of qualities from knowledge of true self.
17. वितर्कविचारानन्दास्मितारूपानुगमात् संप्रज्ञातः ।
VITARKAVICHAARAANANDAASMITAARUPAANUGAMAAT SAMPRADNYAATAH
VITARKA = REASONING; VICHAARA = CONTEMPLATION; ANANDA = BLISS; ASMITA =SELF AWARENESSS, EGOISM; RUPA = FORM; ANUGAMAAT = GOES THROUGH; SAMPRADNYATAH = ONE WHO HAS GAINED TRUE KNOWLEDGE;
Sampradnyaata, is the one who has gained knowledge in mind by going through the deep meditative states of Vitarka or reasoning, Vichaara or contemplation, Ananda or joy and Asmita or Sense of Self.
18. विरामप्रत्ययाभ्यासपूर्वः संस्कारशेषोऽन्यः ।
VIRAMAPRATYAYAABHYAASAPOORVAH SANSKAARASHESHO ANYA
VIRAMA = END; PRATYAYA = IMPRESSIONS; ABHYAASA = STUDIES; POORVAH = PAST; SANSKAARA = BELIEFS; Sheshah= REMAINING; ANYAH=THE OTHER;
The other (Deep Meditative state) is with only impressions remaining, ending the mind assumed perceptions prior to the practice.
19. भवप्रत्ययो विदेहप्रकृतिलयानाम् ।
BHAVAPRATYAYO VIDEHAPRAKRUTILAYANAAM
BHAVA = OCCUR, HAPPEN; PRATYAYO = WITH IMPRESSIONS ON MIND
VIDEHA=OUT OF BODY, PRAKRUTILAYANAAM=OF MERGING WITH THE NATURE
Perceptions happen like those of being without a body like Videha and merging with nature like Prakrutilaya.
20. श्रद्धावीर्यस्मृतिसमाधिप्रज्ञापूर्वक इतरेषाम् ।
SHRADDHAAVEERYASMRUTISAMAADHIPRADNYAAPOORVAK ITARESHAAM
SHRADDHA = FAITH; VEERYA =STAMINA; SMRUTI = SCRIPTURES; SAMAADHI = DEEP MEDITATION; PRADNYA = SELF-KNOWLEDGE; ITARESHAAM = FOR OTHERS, POORVAK = PRE-REQUISITE;
For others pre-requisite for this Samaadhi or deep meditative state is Faith, Stamina, Memory (of true self), Deep meditation and True Knowledge.
